On 31 July 2025, the Rosebank Management District (RMD) and the Lower Rosebank Management District (LRMD) jointly hosted their second Stakeholder Meeting in Rosebank. This quarterly engagement brought together members, stakeholders, and partners to review key projects, discuss precinct challenges, and share recent and upcoming developments.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on progress, address shared concerns, and align on strategies to sustain Rosebank’s momentum as a vibrant and evolving urban precinct. Key updates and discussions included the following:

Safety and Security interventions
Stakeholders were updated on the ongoing collaboration between the Districts and their security partners, with efforts focused on combating crime, monitoring emerging security patterns, and creating a safer environment for residents, businesses, and visitors. Key concerns raised by residents, including illegal parking, noise pollution, and traffic congestion, particularly around nightlife venues and high-traffic corridors, were acknowledged as top priorities for intervention.

Precinct maintenance and public infrastructure
Ongoing maintenance efforts across the precinct include the upkeep of sidewalks, stormwater drains, and public facilities, as well as the removal of illegally parked vehicles and minor infrastructure repairs such as fixing bollards and paving. These activities are essential to maintaining a well-managed, clean, and accessible urban environment.

Community Concerns and social issues
The meeting addressed ongoing efforts to manage informal traders operating without permits and to reduce visible homelessness, particularly near residential entrances. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to safeguard the quality of life for all Rosebank residents.

Long-term development  projects

  • Placemaking and public space upgrades
Ongoing efforts are focused on enhancing the look, feel, and functionality of the precinct. Key activities include streetscape upgrades, public space activations, and continued support for sustainable mobility through the GoRosebank initiative.
  • Key public facilities
Significant infrastructure projects are underway to improve essential services within the precinct. These include upgrades to the Rosebank Police Station, refurbishment of the public library, and collaborative plans with City of Joburg partners to enhance the Rosebank Taxi Rank.
  • Strategic urban development
These long-term initiatives aim to reinforce Rosebank’s position as a leading urban node, ensuring that public infrastructure and shared spaces evolve in line with the area’s growth and the needs of its diverse community.

Commitment to collaboration and progress
The Rosebank Management District (RMD) and Lower Rosebank Management District (LRMD) remain committed to working in close partnership with the City of Johannesburg and local stakeholders. Their efforts focus on improving service delivery, maintaining essential infrastructure, and promoting coordinated precinct management. United by a shared mission, they aim to create a safe, clean, and vibrant Rosebank for everyone who lives, works, and visits the area.
