The Rosebank Management District has officially partnered with FNB Art Joburg for the first ever Open City weekend. This art extravaganza takes place at an array of venues across Rosebank from October 28–31 and admission is FREE!

The four-day Open City programme is packed with an exciting line-up of gallery activations, exhibitions, performances, artist talks and demonstrations at Rosebank’s top contemporary art galleries, as well as special pop-up events at other sites across the district.

Inspired by similar gallery weekend festivals in Berlin, London and Zurich, the Open City programme has been curated to allow visitors to walk between all the key venues and enjoy a weekend of gallery hopping around Rosebank. Making this an extra lively and sociable event, top bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood are also taking part, offering special promotions as part of Open City weekend.
The FNB Art Joburg Open City weekend presents a refreshing and accessible showcase of the arts and Joburg culture, in the wake of the Covid crisis which forced so many of our cultural institutions to close for extended periods. FNB Art Joburg founding director Mandla Sibeko explains; “Open City is our response to the current conditions; mobilising all culture players, artists and gallerists to reimagine an open city of Joburg after such a difficult few months”.

FNB Art Joburg Open City highlights to look forward to include:
