The Joburg Tourism Ambassadors have returned to the precinct until April 2025. This initiative, in collaboration with the Johannesburg Tourism Company, supports our ongoing commitment to enhancing visitor experiences, public safety, and way-finding in Rosebank.
What do the Joburg Tourism Ambassadors do?
- Distribute tourism information
- Coordinate with security teams and assist with site management
- Maintain clean and welcoming surroundings
- Conduct research and share updates on new developments in the precinct
When do they work, and for how long?
The Ambassadors are available from 08:00 to 17:00, Monday to Sunday.
Where can you find the Ambassadors?
They are stationed at strategic hotspots throughout the precinct to maximise visibility and accessibility. Key hotspots include:
- Keyes Art Mile
- Gautrain station
- Rosebank Mall
- The Zone @ Rosebank
- Tyrwhitt and Bath Avenues
- Cradock Avenue and Baker street
How can you identify them?
Look for their branded orange safety vests and name tags for easy identification.
Do the Ambassadors receive compensation?
Yes, the Johannesburg Tourism Company provides each Ambassador with a monthly stipend of R4,500. While tips are appreciated, Ambassadors are prohibited from soliciting money from the public.
How long will the programme run?
The programme will continue until April 2025.
Important Note: The Joburg Tourism Ambassadors do not replace security or law enforcement services. Instead, they work in conjunction with these agencies to support crime prevention. Additionally, a branded SAPS trailer, staffed by security personnel, is now positioned in the precinct as part of a collaborative effort between the Rosebank Districts and the South African Police Service (Rosebank Police Station) to boost safety and awareness.
