In celebration of Women’s Month in Rosebank we thought it a good time to introduce some of the dynamic figures that keep the district not only running, but thriving as a key Joburg neighbourhood. This week we chat to Lerato Khiba.

Lerato Khiba is the Precinct Manager for Excellerate Managed Services in Rosebank. “My job is to essentially ensure the neighbourhood remains in shape and functions as expected by our stakeholders. Most importantly, it is to grow Rosebank into a formidable neighbourhood that will become a reference point for many Joburg neighbourhoods.”
Most enjoyable aspect of your work?
Interacting with different people and making things happen, and in that way shaping the narrative of the neighbourhood.
The greatest challenge over the past few months?
COVID-19 has challenged everyone, and Rosebank has been kept on its toes as we have needed to manage this proactively – tackling the lack of servicing and maintenance of the area by municipal entities, the huge increase of motorbike delivery parking shortages, and taxi rank issues.
What makes Rosebank special?
Inclusivity – Rosebank caters for all that live, work and play in it.
The most memorable meal you have eaten in Rosebank?
It has to be the burger and fries at BGR

A visitor should not leave Rosebank without experiencing…?
The many art galleries. They will change your perspective on art for sure.
Top tip for a first-time visitor to Rosebank?
Take a walk around the precinct and experience what sets it apart from the rest in Joburg!
What positive changes have you observed in Rosebank over the past 3 years?
So many new developments that have changed the architectural landscape of the neighbourhood.
If you could change one thing about Rosebank, what would it be?
Law enforcement’s participation in the neighbourhood.
What’s the one thing you think most people don’t know about the neighbourhood?
Rosebank is not a corporate neighbourhood. It’s so cosmopolitan with a mixed demographic – it’s exciting to see a lot more young people move into the precinct than before.
