March advanced key operational priorities, with a clear focus on spatial regulation, by-law enforcement, and infrastructure upkeep. These interventions reflect a deliberate, hands-on approach to ensuring Rosebank remains functional, safe, and well-presented for all who live, work, and move through the precinct.
E-Hailing Motorbike Regulation
A key development this month was the implementation of a structured holding space for e-hailing motorbike operators, facilitated by the management of The Zone @ Rosebank, while a sustainable long-term solution is being explored. Motorbikes previously clustered adjacent to the old Post Office building on Cradock Avenue have been successfully relocated, easing congestion and improving pedestrian safety in the area. In addition, parking adjacent to News Café is now capped at 10 motorbikes – a targeted intervention that is already improving pedestrian flow along one of the precinct’s busiest corridors.

By-Law Enforcement
JMPD Region B teams maintained a strong and consistent presence across the precinct throughout March. Targeted operations addressing illegal parking and by-law infringements were conducted across Tyrwhitt, Cradock, Sturdee, Jellicoe, and Keyes Avenues, reinforcing compliance and contributing to improved traffic flow along these critical routes.

Infrastructure Maintenance
City Power technicians were deployed to address faulty streetlights across the precinct, enhancing visibility and safety. In parallel, contractor teams undertook pavement reinstatements and repairs in affected areas, restoring pedestrian walkways and improving the overall quality of the public realm. In a high-footfall urban environment, reliable infrastructure remains non-negotiable, and these interventions reflect an ongoing commitment to proactive infrastructure maintenance.

JMPD Hotline
JMPD has introduced a dedicated reporting hotline for traffic light outages, by-law infringements, illegal dumping, and related traffic matters. Incidents can now be logged via 0800 872 3342, strengthening public responsiveness and enabling faster, more coordinated resolution on the ground.
The district’s safety and cleaning teams continue to play a vital role in maintaining day-to-day order and cleanliness across the precinct. This sustained effort underscores a broader commitment to keeping Rosebank safe, accessible, and efficiently managed – reinforcing its position as one of Gauteng’s best-performing urban nodes.
